A System of Personal Success for Pharmacy Owners: Take the First Step

Posted by Benjamin Coakley on Thu, Feb 05, 2015 @ 11:36 AM

In our last blog, we discussed the idea of having a system for personal and family success.  We also pharmacy owners, system for personal successdiscussed ideas on what this system could look like and why it is vital to have a system for success in place.

Pharmacy owners have systems for almost everything that happens in the pharmacy. So, why don't they typically have a system in place for personal and family success.

As we highlighted in the last blog, the reasons for this can be numerous. Two of the main reasons are pharmacy owners do not know they need a system or they actually think they don't need one. We are going to address these in this blog.

Creating a system for anything is hardwork. First, their is the thinking through how the system will work and building the structure of the system.  If that isn't hard enough (especially with your already hectic schedule), you then have determine how to best manage the system.  Then, to top it all off, you have to do the ongoing management of the system.

This is no different that going to gym for the first time after an extended break. You cannot reach your physical objectives overnight. It takes work and dedication to make this happen.

Sometimes it is easier to have a head in the sand mentality and hope things work out for the best.  Or, it is easier to tell ourselves that our trusted advisors know what I want and are helping me get there. These are often the reasons that people tell us they do not need a system for success.  For people who do not know they need a system, things can be more difficult. Often it takes something negative happening for them to realize they need one.  We had a pharmacy owner tell us that at 50 years old he decided to get a financial checkup.  What he discuvered was that he was way behind where he wanted to be.  Fortunately for him, he had enough time to catch up. For some, they realize they need a system and it's too late. So, what can other pharmacy owners and you do about it now?

The first step to making positive changes in your personal and family life is to admit you need to make changes. Admit that you are not as young as you think you are and that time is not on your side.  One of our team's favorite quotes from Jim Rohn is "You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of."

We have developed a series of questions that you can answer to help determine if these changes are needed.

  1. Do you spend time every month to review your goals, your personal vision of success, and your progress?
  2. Do you implement things that are important to you in the time frame that you choose?
  3. Do your trusted advisors save you time and money?

If you answered no to any of these questions, you need a system for success. If you answered no to any of these questions, now is the time to act. You cannot afford to wait.

Why do we do what we do?

Our mission is to help independent community pharmacy owners achieve all their goals and dreams, inside, outside and after their life in pharmacy. In doing so, we are helping independent community pharmacies remain independent and thrive for many years to come.

When a pharmacist reaches out to us for information and help, we give them as much free value as possible. In addition to providing educational, self-assessment and strategic planning tools, we invite qualified pharmacists into our formal discovery process.

The first step of the process is completing The Inspired Goals Workshop. This complimentary and private 90-minute session enables us to deliver a free, detailed and personal Inspired Independence Blueprint. The blueprint provides a roadmap for achieving your goals and enables you to fully understand the value of joining The Inspired Independence Program.

If you wish to learn more about any aspect of our work, the free value we offer, or to be considered for The Inspired Goals Workshop, visit our web site at www.waypointus.com or call 843.873.4420 and ask for Ben or Matt Coakley.

At Waypoint Pharmacist Advisors, we take care of you!
