The Community Pharmacist Lifecycle® is based on over 20 years of research and has been used extensively to help community pharmacists develop and implement a plan for achieving greater independence during and after their life in pharmacy.

It presents the fundamental stages every community pharmacist experiences as they progress through their career. Within each stage are the steps necessary for taking full advantage of all the opportunities a life in community pharmacy makes available to you.

Keep in mind that, as an ideal model, the lifecycle does not exactly match any one person's individual experience, but it does provide a valid, logical and verified set of waypoints. These waypoints are a mixture of accomplishments, capabilities, resources and milestones.

Completing each stage as thoroughly as possible accelerates your progress through the lifecycle. Of course, your career is not necessarily shortened – it is not a race – but the satisfaction, peace of mind, fulfillment and financial success you experience along the way is deeper and broader.

At its most fundamental level, the lifecycle is about awareness. It helps you know where you are and where you are going. It also helps you assess how thoroughly you have completed the stages and decide how to best spend your valuable and irreplaceable time and life energy.

Once you have determined where you are in the lifecycle, you can then assess your current and past performance in all the areas critical to each lifecycle stage. And then, you can much more easily develop or refine your plan for taking advantage of what is ahead in the next and all subsequent stages.
